This is the home of my father and
our
family business. Selling fine wood furniture and raw wood for
do-it-your-selfers, Harvey Shinerock has built a mansion out of
burl
over the past couple decades, and his hard work has paid off with a
home based business who's popularity has grown the old fashion way; by word of mouth. I can say in all honesty, that
he has repeatedly turned down offers to advertise his business in an
effort to avoid gimmicks. Believing that the passion invested in
each work of art created here, and the ambiance of the place, is
testimony enough. He has proven himself right for countless
years to date.
Inside Harvey and Joy Shinerocks home are burly formations
preserved in expert craftsmanship. Every
angle, every support, a thing of living beauty. The photo above
is their bedroom. In the top right of the photo is a
glass floor, at the top of the stairs, which leads to Harvey's painting
room.

This is a better view of my parents bedroom. The oval windows
overlooking the burl yard below. This is the
second story of Its-A-Burl, our family business and lasting legacy.
Here you see my youngest sister and her friends just hanging out on a
hot summer day. The space above
being , in effect, a third story,, the peak of the structure.
The paintings along the floor, against the walls, are my fathers
creation. He has never really considered selling
them for a profit, but has, on occasion, given a few as gifts to one
of his eight children, or close friends.
